Limerick LGBTQ Pride has picked up a Non-Profit Community Group of the Year Munster Innovation Award for Virtual Events at the Irish Enterprise Awards 2022, hosted by EU Business News.

The group received the accolade for their 2021 virtual Limerick Pride festival.

The impressive event, which took place during Pride Week from July 5-11, included various workshops, the Rainbow River Swim Parade and a host of adult and family entertainment.

The EU Business News Irish Enterprise Awards celebrate Irish businesses and initiatives that demonstrate a high level of diversity and innovation.

"We are delighted and honoured to have received this Irish Enterprise Award for our 2021 Limerick Pride festival," Limerick LGBTQ Pride Chairperson, Lisa Daly, tells I Love Limerick.

"When the country went into lockdown in 2020, Limerick Pride became virtual, which was totally new to us. By 2021, we were ready to provide as much for our community as possible during Pride Week."

The 2021 festival was a huge success, reaching thousands of virtual attendees through event streams and social media.

"We wanted to show that while Pride was not physically able to happen, it was never cancelled. Pride is in all of us and will continue regardless of any situation," acknowledges Ms Daly.

Limerick LGBTQ Pride's award success will earn the group exposure on EU Business News' global platform.

"We would like to thank everyone who helped Limerick Pride during lockdown - we could not have done it without you," Ms Daly declares.

"We are looking forward to giving Limerick a great celebration for Pride 2022."
